ABOUT US

Temaki Den is a collaboration between renowned chefs Toshi Kizaki and Kenta Kamo. Building on Kizaki’s reputation (Sushi Den est. 1984) and Kamo’s traditional Japanese culinary background, they bring a modern twist to the American sushi bar.

At Temaki Den, we take pride in preserving the essence of traditional sushi. Though we are not an Edomae-style sushi restaurant like you may find in Tokyo, we have crafted a dining experience that pays homage to traditional Japanese culinary philosophies and cuisine.

By introducing flame-torched sushi (
aburi-zushi) and a modern cylindrical hand roll (temaki-zushi), we’ve created a new American sushi restaurant where modern creativity, tradition, and respect for the craft converge.

Meet Chef Kenta Kamo

Managing Partner and Executive Chef

Chef Kenta Kamo’s upbringing was largely influenced by his parents, who both hail from the Tokyo/Saitama region. His dual citizenship allowed him to split his early years between his home town of Baton Rouge, LA, and attending school in Japan. He developed a passion for Japanese cuisine and culture, which he sought to share through food.

Kenta honed his culinary expertise in Japan, working four years in various Tokyo izakayas and even at a Nagano ski resort hotel. After relocating to Denver, he became executive chef at OTOTO, winning Westword’s Best Japanese Restaurant (2018, 2019) and 5280’s Best Japanese Restaurant (2018, 2019).

Kenta was proud to team up with Toshi Kizaki (proprietor of Sushi Den, Izakaya Den, and OTOTO) to create Temaki Den, where he continues to contribute his passion and expertise as manager, chef, and visionary.
